VNAF Pin Up, Rescue Angels

Hi everybody,

Again, I like to draw from my imagination... I made up things that do not exist. So there were no rescue "angels" like you see in this drawing during the Vietnam War. I simply wanted to draw some VNAF pin up girls in an interesting situation that could have happened in real life.
I have just gone through the year of 2014, a year with a lot of challenges in my job, my health and difficulties in my finance... I feel like I have just been rescued by two beautiful "angels", one on each side lifting me up, out of the dark water. Well that is my inspiration for this drawing :)
You might see the mysterious smile that I put on the pilot's face and the trace of patches on the girls' swim suits in an effort to cover up more skin...to keep everything decent on my blog. Am I too conservative? Mr. Duong Tien might say yes :)
Anyway, I hope you all like the drawing.
Thank you for visiting my blog.

UH 34D Seahorse, VNAF 213 HS, 51st Wing, Da Nang, 1966

Hi everybody,

I actually drew this UH 34 as the back ground for another project, but then I liked it ... so I fixed it up a little bit and created a new drawing of it. This is my first time drawing this kind of helicopter so I must have missed or overdone many things... Hope you all like it ;)

Clint Eastwood - Old pencil drawing

Last month when I cleaned up my bookcase I found this old pencil drawing I did a long time ago. Before I put it together with other artworks in a new binder, I scanned it for later post. Well, here it is ... Hope you like it.

VNAF - A-37B - 520th Fighter Squadron - Binh Thuy 1970

An VNAF A-37B of the 520th Fighter Squadron, 74th Tactical Wing, 4th Air Division at Binh Thuy during 1970. A-37s were well liked by VNAF aircrews for their agility and load carrying capability.

Even though I was born in Saigon and grew up in the district of Thu Duc, I spent most of my time after 1975 in Can Tho, a city in the Mekong Delta. Therefore it is nice to do a painting of a plane that used to be stationed in the nearby town of Binh Thuy, my Mom's home town.
Well, this is the first time I publish a post right on new year day...still sitting in my bed watching the Rose Parade live on TV, a hot cup of coffee...and the temperature outside is 38°F (around 3°C)...such a wonderful feeling. Maybe this is the right way to welcome the Year of 2015 :)
And to all of you...Happy New Year!!!

Áo dài sketch

Hi everybody,
This is just a pencil sketch. I don't know if it will be used later or not. Summer is the busiest time of the year for me, so I really have no plan for any drawing. Well, just did this for fun :)

VNAF A1 Skyraiders and Vietnamese Girls

Finally!!!
Well, welcome back everybody! I haven't posted anything new for a while, it feels so good to do this simple task once again!
It's something new. I sketched the idea based on my old Skyraider diecast model and a photograph of two Vietnamese girls on their Honda stopping at a traffic light (they were wearing blouses and skirts though!). The rest, I would blame it on checking out many Romain Hugault's pin ups lately. I wish I could draw planes as well as CoVu or some other Belgian and French comic artists. I admire these gentlemen for their talents. I like to draw people, so I always tried to add things into my plane drawings as a way to express myself better. I also enjoyed this style more. I used to draw cartoons and caricatures for some small news papers and magazins, but that's about it. Well...to be honest, I have never been to any arts school or taken any arts classes. I am a simple working man who just found a hobby and decided to stick to it :)
If you enjoy my art, it is already a great pleasure for me.
As a Vietnamese, I hope to see a comic strip/book about the VNAF done by Mr. CoVu someday. He will have a lot of fans...I will be one among them!
Thanks again everyone for checking out my blog!
