HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Patty

Today is the fifth day of the Vietnamese New Year. The year of the buffalo will be a year of hard works but it also promises lots of green grass for everybody as we believe! Little Saigon must be crowded right now because of the "Xuan Ky Suu" 2009 parade. I was tempted to go but then I decided to stay home and work on a part of my new year's resolution: To draw and post my 2009 "Tet" Allie Cats comic strip. For all of our non-family blog's visitors, FYI, the red envelopes that Allies and the cats hold in their hands in the first frame are the "Lucky Money" that Patty and I are supposed to give them on new year's day. Also, Allie likes to call herself "grandbaby" whenever she talks to Patty and she really enjoys being one.
Well, Happy New Year to everybody! and May all your wishes come true!
Hung and Patty.

Brian and Britney

Happy New Year, everybody!
It's new year day and I did not have any special plan to do anything or to go anywhere. I could not join Patty at the Six Flag Magic Mountain because to be frank, I got very bad dizzy spell! Driving a car on a winding mountain road gives me dizziness, let alone going on those fast roller coasters... So, here I am trying to make my time useful. I haven't drawn my nephew Brian and my niece Britney before so this would be a good opportunity to draw them and to practice on water color painting. Et...Voila...Brian and Britney as they look in a photo taken last year.
I enjoyed practicing. Hope you'll enjoy it, too!
Again, happy new year!
Hung.

Happy Birthday, Allie!

Last Saturday, December 27, Andrea and Pepe held a big party at their home in Corona to celebrate the Birthdays of both Patty and Allie at the same time. I felt like drawing something for Allie in water color for the occasion. This is based on a photograph taken in May of last year. It's an old picture but something about it had captured my mind and given me inspiration for a drawing.
Aren't Allie and Andrea look so cute in this picture? This is the first time I used water color for a portrait. I am still learning how to control the running color, the warping paper. I made mistakes here and there but overall, I think I have beginner's luck with this drawing. I hope Andrea and Allie enjoy my art-work. Happy birthday, Allie!

Happy Birthday, Patty! - from Daniel Craig

Last year I drew a caricature of British actor Daniel Craig (James Bond in Casino Royale) for Patty on her birthday using Adobe Photoshop. Patty preferred something in water color and a Daniel who is less serious. Thanks for the feed-back, I had a chance to try another drawing this year in water color with a more cartoon-like portrait of Craig. Patty likes this one, so do I and I hope you will like it, too. Happy birthday, Patty!

I'm watching you!

The "Dark Knight" is back! Good news for Gotham's citizens...Bad news for those who are on the wrong side of the law. However, no matter who you are or what you do, remember...He is watching you. He..."The Batman" is always watching...!

Hope you like my drawing.

Dance with me!

Hi Everybody,
It has been a while since our last Allie Cats strip. I always think that it would be fun drawing Allie in her tutu dancing ballet in front of her biggest fans: Pancha and Cucha. So here it is! There's no gag, just Allie tries to look cute for all those who love her.
Hope you like my humble artwork.
Until my next post!

From Hanoi Hilton to The White House

Hi everybody,
I did this John McCain caricature last month. Patty encouraged me to post it so here it is! I always admire Mr. McCain for his heroism during the Vietnam War and his patriotism then and now.
I hope you will like this drawing.
Until our next post.
Hung.
